The bisexual teacher, who will fight it out tomorrow for a place in the final, told how doctors found cancerous cells when he was just 11.
Danyl, 27, says the scare has made him "feel passionate" about encouraging lads to have sexual health check-ups and admits the experience made him stronger.
Speaking for the fi rst time about his nightmare, Danyl said: “I have had many visits to hospital. Most of the time it was to do with sports and arts injuries, but when I was 11 they found cancerous cells in my scrotum.
“It was a very scary time, but I came through it fine. I tried to be patient and not take it out on those around me.
“I feel particularly passionate about this and having sexual health checks. The NHS provides a service to get you regularly checked out and yet people don’t do it. I just don’t understand why.”
The caring pop wannabe spoke out after meeting teenage cancer patients at London’s Great Ormond Street hospital.
This year the 12 X Factor finalists, including Stacey Solomon, 20, and Joe McElderry, 18, helped raise cash for the hospital with their charity track, a cover of Michael Jackson’s You Are Not Alone.
Danyl hopes that breaking his silence will encourage others to have regular check-ups. He added: “If you ever feel like there’s something wrong, talk to people. It’s always better to go and check it out. Be brave.”
Stories like this make you realise that there are much more important things to life, and that it should never be taken for granted. Good luck Danyl, keep going all the way!

Wonder why he waited until so close to the final to mention it?
Probably because of people like you...duhhh
Great, the more warning people give about how important it is to check yourself out the better imo.
