A less than polished performance from Danyl Johnson?

• posted on Saturday, 31 October 2009 23:02
So, what happened tonight? Was Danyl Johnson overcome by nerves and feeling the pressure? Or was the song choice not quite right? Regardless, Simon Cowell was still backing Danyl to the hilt and gave him a standing ovation after his performance of Aerosmith's "I don't want to miss a thing".

The other judges however were less than impressed, and some focused on the tough week that Danyl has had, and his stinging critiscm in the press. Danyl himself seemed less than his usual confident self, and something just wasn't quite right tonight.

Originally predicted to sing George Michael's "Careless Whisper", perhaps there was a late change in song choice which affected his singing, but in saying that, he still finished on a typical high, and most of the audience appreciated his performances.

Maybe the tide might have turned now however? The fact that Danyl appeared sad and affected by recent media reports may have shown us his emotional side, and this being something that has been picked up on might have in actual fact done Danyl some good.

What we should really be looking for is how he bounces back next, that is of course assuming that he stays in tomorrow. Two less than great performances in a row would be not be expected of an X Factor winner, so if Danyl Johnson is to prove to us that he has what it takes to win X Factor, he has to come back with a storming performance in the next live show.

Chin up Danyl, bring back the confidence we all know you have.

X Factor Betting Odds say Danyl Johnson is safe this Week

• posted on  14:17

The latest odds are saying that Danyl Johnson’s X should be safe this week, so he will have another chance to prove he is the most popular act on X Factor.

According to the odds, the two most likely bottom acts are Rachel Adedeji and Lloyd Daniels

After last week’s shock decision, Danyl Johnson is now no longer favourite, and he is now the third favourite to win at 11/2 with SkyBet and Blue Square.

The current favourite is Joe McElderry, who is 7/2 with Stan James and Ladbrokes and Olly Murs is the second favourite at 4/1 with Bet365 and Paddy Power.

The most likely to go this week is Rachel Adedeji, who is the 2/1 favourite with Sportingbet to be the next act eliminated.

Rachel was not in the bottom two last week for the first time, and according to reports in todays Daily Star she received the most votes. if she survives again then it should be Lloyd Daniels to go, who is 7/2 with Boylesports.

Fans of the twins should be happy this week, as John and Edward look safe to stay in another week!

Bon Jovi and JLS sing live on X Factor tomorrow - time for Danyl to shine?

• posted on  07:50

Tomorrow nights theme on the X Factor will be rock night, and Bon Jovi and JLS are the latest massive acts announced to play on the X Factor live show.

Alexandra Burke, Robbie Williams, Whitney Houston and Cheryl Cole have all already appeared on the Sunday night programme this series.

Rock legends Bon Jovi will play their new track We Weren’t Born To Follow, and JLS - who came 2nd in last years X Factor competition - will perform their second single Everybody In Love.

At DanylAJohnson.com, we're hoping that Danyl gets a chance to sing a proper rock classic, and not something cheesy like "We will rock you", which we saw him practising last Sunday. We reckon its time the public tide of negativity against Danyl turned, so a great performance on Saturday night will do fantastic for Danyls chances in the competition.

And in another story, X Factor is reaching boiling point for neighbors of the X Factor finalists house.

The road next to the X Factor house which has been flooded with teenage fans is being shut off because of "safety fears", due to hoards of youngsters that have been gathering outside the house hoping to catch a glimps of their idols.

Barnet Council said the decision to close the road was to "protect children and teenagers who have been amassing in the road outside the property".

Councillor Andrew Harper said: "I appreciate the nuisance that this crowd is causing some local residents but our priority has to be to ensure that these young people are safe.

"We have rain forecast for the weekend and I hope that, and the end of half term, will bring an end to the problem.

"In the meantime I trust the fans outside the house realise that this is a residential street and will act accordingly."

Seems like stardom is hitting the finalists already, can you imagine what it will be like as we get closer to the final night!

X Factor: Simon Cowell says Danyl Johnson needs to tell his story

• posted on Wednesday, 28 October 2009 18:09

Speaking on The Xtra Factor last night, Simon Cowell has blamed recent negative media articles about Danyl Johnson for his lack of support on the X Factor lately.

Bullying reports have surfaced regarding Danyl, and claims have been made that he has picked on fellow contestants including Kandy Rain and Stacey Solomon.

Cowell said:

“I think I’m going to have to get to the bottom of lots of the stories that are going around, people saying he is bullying them and stuff. I don’t believe them, but I think that they have an effect and we’re going to have to clear that up.

“People just don’t seem to like him. There have been stories written about him that people are not getting on with him, and he is going to have to put his side of the story across.”

Danyl Johnson losing popularity? The Daily Star say 'X Factor Bully Boy'

• posted on Tuesday, 27 October 2009 12:12

Online bookmakers Ladbrokes has revealed that last week’s X Factor favourite Danyl Johnson will most probably spend the rest of competition fighting for survival.

For whichever reason, it appears that the public either just do not like him or they had previously believed that he will do well enough on his own that he doesn’t need their support, but either way, just £50 has been bet on the old favourite winning the X Factor since he was landed in the bottom two this week.

Recent negative media reports and an apparent heir of "arrogance" have gone against Danyl, and he now has a large problem in turning around his X Factor fortunes. In the last week alone, just £50 has been bet on the old favourite winning X Factor, where previously he was favourite.

However, he still does not look likely to get the boot this week being priced at 12/1, but it seems that if fans want him in they are going to have to start showing their support by voting in.

Rachel is looking most likely to go on Sunday, after she escaped singing for survival for the first time last week, but bookies think that she is unlikely to survive again, making her favourite to go priced at 2/1.

A spokesman from Ladbrokes explained, "Danyl’s plight came as a real shock. It’s knocked punters faith in him – We can’t give him away at the moment."

Despite the drop in popularity, Danyl is backed at joint second favourite and is priced at 4/1 to win the show with Joe McElderry as favourite priced at 7/2.

And reported in todays Daily Star, they claim Danyl has turned rival Stacey Solomon into a sobbing wreck.

He told her she has been branded a bad mum and that seedy stories about her sex life are doing the rounds. And he has been accused of targeting the vulnerable single mum as his own popularity sinks.

Insiders say Stacey, 20, is already “in bits” at being separated from her 18-month-old son Zach. And she has been stung by hurtful stories that she is a bad mum for leaving the tot at home.

A show source said: “Stacey was adamant when she moved into the X Factor house that she did not want to read or hear any stories about herself. “She got terribly upset when people had a go at her for being away from her son and saying she should be ‘a proper mum’.

“She didn’t expect all this horrible bullying. But Danyl has just ignored her wishes and he can’t help blabbing when he sees an article about her in the paper. It upsets her and can put her off her performance.”

Here at DanylAJohnson.com we can't say that we think there's much truth in these stories, but we have to appreciate the effect that all this negative press could have on him. We're still backing him though, and hope that you all are too. Keep voting!

X Factor Finalists cover Michael Jacksons "You are not alone" for charity

• posted on Monday, 26 October 2009 18:05

The X Factor finalists are set to release a cover of Michael Jackson's You Are Not Alone in order to raise money for sick children.

All 12 remaining finalists in the ITV talent show have now recorded the charity single, which will be released shortly to raise money for London.s Great Ormond Street Hospital.

To hear the song for the first time, you'll have to tune into the results show on Sunday November 15th, with the song being available for sale the day after.

Michael Jackson scored a number one hit with the song in 1995, and last years X Factor charity single, a version of Mariah Carey's Hero, raised more than 1m for the Help for Heroes charity.

Speaking to the media, Simon Cowell said: "Following last year's record we made with the X Factor finalists in aid of Help For Heroes last year we decided we wanted to do something annually on the show to help good causes.

"This year we chose to work with Great Ormond Street to help raise funds and awareness for their incredible work. I'm very proud of the single and I really hope it raises an enormous amount of money for people who really need our help."

Louis Walsh added: "Great Ormond Street Hospital does some incredible work and I implore everyone to go out and buy the single to help raise money for such a worthy cause."

We certainly look forward to hearing the single for the first time. Could this be Danyl Johnson's first Number 1? :)

Danyl's two performances on the 3rd Live Show

• posted on  17:53
Anyone in doubt of Danyl Johnsons amazing voice and complete ownership of the X Factor stage should take a look at his two performances from the third live show.

Blasting out a fantastic rendition of Nina Simone's "Feeling Good", Danyl received great plaudits from all of the judges and also the audience, but shockingly found himself in the bottom two along with Miss Frank.

Take a look for yourself:

Danyl's second song was a repeat of his brilliant audition, and he again belted out his superb version of Joe Cocker's "With a little help from my friends".  With his trademark microphone flip and his usual stage swagger, Danyl again impressed the judges, though Cheryl took the easy option in letting the vote go to deadlock instead of casting her true vote.

See his performance again below:

Here at DanylAJohnson.com, we're certainly relieved he stayed, and we'll be supporting him again next week! Remember to keep your votes coming in for Danyl this Saturday!

Danyl In Last Two On The Live Show

• posted on Sunday, 25 October 2009 20:46

Well, it just proves the fact that nobody is safe. Danyl smashed it yet again and in our opinion he was the best on the night, but in a shock vote from the public he was in the bottom two for the very first time, along with Miss Frank.

Danyl's second song was brilliant (as usual), and much better than Miss Frank who seemed a bit shaky at times during their second performance. Singing the song that set him alight during the first auditions, "With a little help from my friends", Danyl recaptured his swagger, and though the judges let the vote go to deadlock, Miss Frank were the unfortunate group to go this week.

Possibly the fact that Danyl is still the favourite meant that people simply weren't voting for him as they assumed he would be a dead cert to go through.

Louis said: "I cannot believe these two acts are in the bottom. These two acts are amazing performers. I think it's unfair."

And Simon was also shocked at the result, saying "I have never ever been so surprised in my life. If this is your last performance Danyl, I've never heard anyone go out on such a high."

Talking directly to Danyl Johnson, simon went further to say "This is a joke you're in this position - It's a total joke."

Lets not let this happen again so dont forget, pick up the phone and vote in future shows. Let all get behind Danyl and push him all the way to the final!

The X Factor Third Live Show is Nearly Here

• posted on Friday, 23 October 2009 18:07

Well it's the traditional big band week on the X Factor – who will best get into the swing?

We'll be giving Louis a big welcome back after he missed the last two weeks due to the sad death of Steven Gateley. Good to have you back Louis.

On this Saturday nights show, the superstar Michael Buble will be performing - so don't forget to remind the mother-in-laws! Here at DanylAJohnson.com we don't yet know what song he'll be performing, but we have no doubt Danyl will blow our socks off yet again with one of his most impressive performances yet.

Speaking to the official X Factor website, Danyl said “Singing I didn’t Know My Own Strength was extremely scary, because I really didn’t know how the public would react to it. It’s a brand new song from Whitney’s forthcoming album, so the fact nobody had ever heard it before was pretty daunting, I thought people might be at home going: ‘What’s this? I don’t recognise it, I’m not going to vote’, so I’m incredibly pleased we seemed to pull it off… and incredibly grateful that people picked up the phone and voted.”

Admitting that he was slightly nervous about singing the track, he decided he was happy to go ahead with it after a few practice sessions.

“I have complete trust in Simon, so when he suggested the Whitney number I was like: ‘Really? Are you sure?’ but the man knows his stuff… so once I’d got my head around no one actually knowing the song, I just thought I better go for it and make sure I do a good job!"

Looking ahead to tomorrow nights live show, Danyl is feeling extra confident, with the big band theme lending itself to his natural swagger

“In a competition like this there is no such thing as the ‘comfort zone’, all of us are pushing the boundaries each week because we are desperate to stay in for the next Saturday night.

“Big Band night is going to be awesome! I’ll be trying out something a little different this week, and I really hope the people at home go for it. I’ll be singing a well known track this time, but I’ll be changing it up slightly and adding my own twist - plus I’ll be mixing it up onstage with a lot of dancers… it’s going to be a lot of fun!”

Danyl is currently joint favourite to win along with Joe McElderry. Remember everybody to keep voting for Danyl - let's help push him all the way to the final.

Rachel is favourite to go yet again after appearing in the bottom two in both the opening weeks, and bookmakers have predicted that John and Edward will stay yet again!

In a future live show, Bon Jovi are to appear on the "X-Factor" next month, it has been announced.

The US rock veterans will become the latest big act to appear on the show, following Robbie Williams, Whitney Houston and Cheryl Cole.

The band are expected to groom the acts before taking to the stage and performing new track "We Weren't Born To Follow".

Roll on Saturday at 8pm!

Brian Friedman backs Danyl Johnson to win!

• posted on Thursday, 22 October 2009 07:51

Brian Friedman, X Factor's creative director, has admitted that he thinks Danyl Johnson will win this year’s series.

Speaking with Closer magazine, Brian said: “Danyl has the most star quality. He has the confidence, swagger and knows how to work the camera.”

Brian works with each of the acts day in, day out, so he knows more than anybody who has the potential to go on to win the contest. Backing Danyl for the top prize should be a great confidence boost - but does he need any more confidence?

Let us know what you think below!

Also in this weeks news, Whitney Houston was apparently upset after Simon Cowell gave one of her new tracks to Danyl Johnson for last week’s live show.

‘I Didn’t Know My Own Strength’ was supposed to kept secret for Whitney's forthcoming comeback tour, but Simon wanted to give it to Danyl to sing.

Speaking in The Mirror newspaper, a source said: “You’d never guess that anyone could leave Simon speechless – he usually has contestants quivering in their boots. But he has got a taste of his own medicine with Whitney.

“They had a lot of playful chemistry and got on like a house on fire.”

Simon and Whitney are still friends though, and Simon showed his appreciation by ordering her a basket of toiletries and pamper products from brand Jo Malone.

Danyl Johnson wants to date Simon Cowell?

• posted on Tuesday, 20 October 2009 22:01
Talking in OK! magazine this week, current X-Factor joint favourite Danyl Johnson apparently confessed to his mother that he fancied Simon Cowell!

Whether there's any truth in this we'll probably never know, but the mega-confident singing sensation supposedly told his mum Maria Burgess that he would love to go out with the multi-millionaire Cowell.

Danyl joked to his mum that "he'd like to go on a date with Simon", but Maria said "If he brought him home - I'd be totally gobsmacked!"

His mum also revealed that back in 2006, Danyl had previously auditioned for X-Factor but strangely was not even picked to perform in front of the judges! (How the hell did that happen?)Sack whoever was responsible for that cock-up we say!

However, maybe it was a blessing in disguise as it was the one and only Leona Lewis who won that particular year :)

Finally, Danyl's mother Maria added, "Danyl has made me the proudest woman in the world". Aww, how sweet :)

Danyl Johnson's X-Factor performance on the second Live Show

• posted on Sunday, 18 October 2009 11:05
So, a great verdict from the judges, and a very strong performance from Danyl Johnson in spite of a tricky task singing a relatively unknown song by Whitney Houston, "I Didn't Know My Own Strength".

Judge for yourself below. Was he good enough?

Danyl Johnson Diva Showdown

• posted on Saturday, 17 October 2009 21:10

Ok so Danyl smashed it again this week (video to follow) singing a never before heard song.

Our personal thoughts are that it was a bad song choice especially as it is an unknown album track, but he delivered it in true Danyl style.

The judges seemed to love him this week which is great and all of the comments were positive. Think he is safe but still, dont forget to vote just to make sure.

Lets open this one up to all our followers. What do people think about the song choice tonight?

Danyl to sing another female diva song tonight!

• posted on  16:29
You heard it here first. Tonight on X-Factor Danyl Johnson will only be singing another classic female song!

Talking about tonights choice of song, Danyl said "This is divas week and it's gonna be hard. And I think it'll be the fifth time I've sung a girl's song." - "But I'm looking forward to it. I have a ballad and there'll be a big note in there somewhere, if Simon Cowell has his way. I can't wait."

Lets hope he pulls it off again!

Also on tonights live show, Olly Murs will is ready to impress the audience with his dancing skills...

Olly said: "Dancewise, anything I've ever done is off the cuff. I have never rehearsed anything in my life. The stuff you have seen is from me watching Michael Jackson and Justin Timberlake and just putting my own thing on it."

Danyl, who is still the favourite to win, is currently at 3/1, with Lucie Jones close behind, followed by Joseph McElderry and Stacey Solomon. Olly Murs is currently 6th favourite behind Jamie Archer.

Danyl's top 5 pre-party tunes revealed!

• posted on  14:06
The official site of the X-Factor asked all the finalists what their top 5 pre-party tunes were, and this is what Danyl Johnson had to say.

When asked "What tunes REALLY get you in the mood for a jolly good night out?", Danyl revealed the following:

  • 1. My Love - Justin Timberlake
  • 2. Sex On Fire - Kings Of Leon
  • 3. Let Me Be Your Fantasy - Baby D
  • 4. Set Me Free - N Trance
  • 5. Beat It - Micheal Jackson
Some old school dance anthems in there, a Jacko classic, a modern rock smash and then good old Justin Timberlake at the top. Well I don't think anybody would have predicted those choices.

Danyl Johnson voted for the twins FIVE TIMES last week!

• posted on  12:27
Our favourite X Factor contestant Danyl Johnson has revealed that he voted for the Irish twins a staggering five times last Saturday night. The current favourite to win admitted that John and Edward Grimes were one of his favourite acts last week, and he thought their performance was awesome.

In a video blog on ITV1's official website, Danyl said “I voted for the twins, actually five times,”. Going futher he said “Not even sympathy votes, I just thought they were awesome. So entertaining and I think they bring something to the show.”

The twins are certainly splitting audiences this year with many thinking they don't deserve a place in this years finals, but here at DanylAJohnson.com, we agree with Danyl and think they're certainly great value for entertainment! They're definitely not at the top of the singing pile, but for the pure furn factor, they're right up there.

Danyl to win, with the twins coming second? Who knows?

Odds shortened on Danyl Johnson winning the X-Factor

• posted on Thursday, 15 October 2009 19:59
After Saturday nights fantastic perfomance from Danyl Johnson, the odds have now been shortened on Danyl winning this years X-Factor. Betfair no make him 7/2 to win, quite probably due to him winning some sympathy from the public after Danii's comments on Saturday night.

Performing a Jennifer Hudson track - "I'm telling you", (which you might have seen performed at bootcamp by a few other contestants, Danyl got a huge cheer from the audience but the response he received from Danii was not what he expected. Danii made a sly dig about his sexuality, though she later said nothing bad was meant - and that it was just an off-the-cuff remark. Danyl seemed quite upset by the comment though, and this may have been the turning point in his competition future as the public were firmly on his side.

Lucie Jones and Stacey Soloman are second and third favourites behind Danyl (9/2 and 5/1 respectively), with both putting in well received performances.

What will Danyl be singing this weekend? We expect he'll sing a strong traditionally male vocal, and don't be surprised if he's made an even stronger favourite to win the competition.

Danyl Johnson X Factor Performance First Live Show

• posted on Wednesday, 14 October 2009 12:24

What a performance! The crowd absolutely loved him and he looked like he had been doing it for years. If the only thing they can say is that he is to cocky then so be it.

Just because he came on without showing nerves like the rest, he was put down by the rest of the judges. They are not fooling anybody and Simon summed it up beautifully. Personally we think that Danii has now done Danyl Johnson a favour by bringing up his sexuality in front of the crowd. It's been mentioned a few times he is a lesser favourite in the crowds eye, but now he may have won a little bit of sympathy back, which can only help his potential in the competition.

Keep it up Danyl, we look forward to next Saturday!

Danyl Johnson BootCamp Audition

• posted on Tuesday, 13 October 2009 15:44

Not the best audition we have seen but still worth putting through without a doubt - and far better than what some of the judges were saying. There are great things to come from Danyl and we would like to get everybodies support, so post your comments and lets make this blog the best Danyl Johnson site on the internet.

Danyl is current favourite to win the X-Factor, though Lucy is pushing him all the way. In our eyes though there is only one winner. Come on Danyl!

• posted on  14:52

Here's a video that some of you might not have seen - it's our very own Danyl Johnson appearing on The Today Show, over on NBC in the USA.

This is sign of Danyl's growing popularity and his worldwide potential. With an amazing voice and boyband good looks, as well as an intense media spotlight, we think that this lad will be here to stay for a long time.

Can he break the chain of female winners in the last two years? We certainly think so.

Danyl Johnson's first X-Factor audition - the best Simon Cowell has ever seen!

• posted on Monday, 12 October 2009 14:22

Launching himself firmly into the spotlight of UK audiences, here is Danyl's first audition for the X-Factor, where he stunned the crowd and had Simon Cowell standing in appreciation. Danyl's rendition of "With a little help from my friends" was judged by Simon to be the best first audition he has ever heard - and thats certainly saying something!

Danyl's audition was featured on the first episode of this years X-Factor, and he had the last slot in the show. The first of many performances that we will surely see from the British schoolteacher. Will we see him back teaching kids in school again after the finals are over?  We don't think so!
